sundaes on sunday.

life is all about changing and growing, and in the past few months i think i've grown more than in years. i went through a large chunk of my days in a dark place the past few months (if we're going to be honest). i wouldn't say i was depressed, because i am a very positive individual, but i was lost. i felt stuck. i felt like a lot of facebook friends and instagram friends and actual friends were moving forward and here i was just the same old me, posting outfit photos on my blog and living in a place i didn't really want to be. i listened to endless advice from tons of different mouths, and they all clouded my head and made things clearer and less clear and left me feeling even more lost.

but then something changed. i started to clear my life of negativity, and i started to take more time to practice yoga, to cook and to spend time with the person who i had been neglecting most, myself. after trying to fix me, i realized a lot of other things became fixed too. for the first time in a while, i feel like i can smile and actually mean it. like i can look around and be happy with everything i have, because this is my life and it's comfortable and fulfilling and it's MINE. i wouldn't want to be anybody but me, and i wouldn't want my life any other way. i read this quote, and it helped me so much..

"The challenge, therefore, is to take pleasure in the atmosphere of growth, in the gradual process made toward a goal--- in the present."

denim days...

i've finally found a dress i know i will repeatedly wear all summer long. i usually wear dresses once and get bored with how simple they are to style (you know.. add a necklace, or a hat), but this one is a dream come true. i am going to wear it again to work tomorrow!

today was equal parts fun and sad. i had a lovely morning with my two friends i used to be in school with, and then came home and found out claude may or may not have eaten some aleve. to be cautious we took her to the vet, and it turns out aleve is really really bad for dogs, so she has to stay on fluids for 24-hours :( we miss her and are hoping she is okay. she's so mischievous, but we love her for that. i am going to sleep praying for her. ❤ goodnight.

life is pastel.

lemon and lime pastel paradise :) i wore this to grab some froyo with my partners in crime. i hope i captured how beautiful sunset walks on south beach are. lincoln road is always packed, the residential streets are always empty, and the two side-by-side is a wonderful combination of both worlds. i love how south beach is a "residential [on the beach] city."

i snagged this skirt from AA this week because i knew i'd wear it a ton over summer. the crop top i also got from AA, but last summer in nyc when i was super duper hot! it's such a staple-- if you're battling summer heat AA is my go-to store for clothes that show skin. lol. anyway, happy wednesday and thank you for reading i love u!

summertime stripes.

happppy sunday evening. i'm sitting next to my right hand gal claude, and my guy matt watching arrested development. i never watched it when it was "THE show," so we're catching up on episodes. we had the most fun day of walks and movies and cooking, etc. i love how full summer weekend days feel.

i spent the day in these comfy black high-waisted shorts that i snagged in NYC last summer. it's great when you purchase something and then end up getting tons of use out of it (like these). most of my outfit is from urban... brand loyalty at it's finest :) have a perfect night. i am excited to go to sleep and wake up because tomorrow night is GIRLS YOGA NIGHT. the best.

crop tops on saturdays.

my childhood ended and my adult life began when every day began to melt into one. summer break disappeared, weekends became rare and i can distinctly remember writing down "june" as the month a few days back and realizing i hardly remember the days passing by at all. the amazing part is that i haven't minded all of the saturdays spent steaming and playing with clothes. when a saturday like today occurs, and i am in bed snuggled up with my pup until 10AM, i almost miss waking up, drinking a coffee and heading out into the day with a purpose. that's not to say i don't enjoy the days off wandering south beach, but i feel so lucky in this moment that work is not even close to a burden to me.

with that being said, i have this entire weekend off. an ENTIRE weekend. phew! unfortunately matt was not as lucky. ha. i'm going to go for a run and read a book in the park. ❤ happy saturday.

a pinafore skirt!

i just got home from an evening yoga class. i am addicted to the feeling of practicing yoga while the sun is setting outside. i love sweating out all of my stresses, and letting everything go. I LOVE YOGA! :) after living on south beach for almost a year, i am starting to branch out and find more things to do that fit my personality. it's scary but also invigorating to step out of my comfort zone and try new things. are any of you yogis?

i've been wearing this pinafore skirt non-stop. it's a great wear-to-work piece for me, because it allows me to let my style shine through. i wore this for a walk on lincoln road with my baby girl. ❤

life is so beautiful, it almost seems real.

oh life, it is ever so complicated and oh so beautiful. i've been trying to find my balance of happiness lately, which is a constant battle (for most of us i think). I saw this movie called carmina o revienta the other day, and just loved the quote "life is so beautiful it almost seems real." it's funny, because my friend who i saw it with remembered the quote too. even in the thick of it, there's moments when you look around and the world seems to sparkle a little bit. those moments change everything.

i wore this to matt's moms birthday dinner. a yummy meal, indeed! it's hard for me to get fancy, but here is my greatest attempt :) i am going to sleep now, even though it is still light outside because this week my alarm is set to 5am for most days! g'night!

sweet healthy treats i bake weekly ❤

so, i have a confession to make... i am not domestic. one of my biggest flaws as a partner is my lack of knowledge in the kitchen. for the past few years i was one of those people who lived off of 90 calorie bars, healthy choice soups with way too much sodium, and cereal for dinner. it kept me breathing (obviously) but i am pretty positive it was bad for my body and also for my mental health. recently i decided to turn a new leaf, plan ahead, and try to prepare quick and easy HEALTHY things, with ingredients i have heard of. here is one of my new favorite staples to grab on the way out in the morning for breakfast. i am going to try to share a new domestic thing each week, more to force myself to keep doing them :)

fruit and oat bars.

1.5 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup strawberries chopped
1/2 cup apple chopped
1 tsp cinnamon
1/3 cup honey
2/3 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 tsp vanilla extract

♥ preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray a cupcake pan with non-stock spray
♥ combine oats, strawberries, apple and cinnamon
♥ whisk together honey, almond milk and vanilla
♥ pour wet mixture into dry mixture until well combined
♥ bake 40-45 minutes until golden brown. let cool and refrigerate until firm.
